Jigsaw Puzzles

Jigsaw puzzles are a great investment in the school library.

From experience, the 1,000-piece puzzles usually take too long to complete, and students often get frustrated enough to disengage. The 500-piece puzzles are usually the best choice for the Middle and Secondary schools. The first puzzle bought for our library (picture below) took two weeks to complete.

Tip: The student to put in the last piece of the puzzle can choose the next jigsaw puzzle to solve.

School Library Announcements Banner for Microsoft Teams

Our school uses Microsoft Teams for commination with the students.

I created this banner for use in Teams announcements. The dragon image was AI-generated. The elongated black background ensures that titles are easily visible.

The image is sized to fit the background when creating announcements on Teams.

Student Library Assistants
Checklist of training and tasks

While few students may choose to be library assistants, students who choose to help out in this way show a deeper engagement in the school library.

Training students requires time, but it allows library assistants to develop new skills and gain confidence through their responsibilities and interactions with peers. When the school librarian assigns meaningful tasks, treats the students as valued partners, and acknowledges their accomplishments, it fosters a relationship of mutual respect between the librarian and the students.

Weeding Policy for the School Library

This was our library’s first Weeding Policy.

The proposal was made by the librarian, and the details discussed with the Senior Leadership Team.

The initial content was AI generated according to precise prompts, then edited to fully adhere to agreed details.
